Earth Stewardship

Since the early 90’s, an Earth Stewardship group at FLC has collaborated with the ELCA program of Lutherans Restoring Creation. In the past we have facilitated installation of the  solar panels installed on the roof at Icicle River Middle School, and recycling bins and water bottle filling fountains in downtown Leavenworth. Periodically we have sponsored speakers on Sunday mornings to talk about subjects such as climate change issues, recycling and reuse, energy conservation, and similar topics. We have encouraged creation focused worship services, sponsored Earth Stewardship focused movie nights, conducted nature and garden tours, coordinated Low Energy commute Sundays, and prepared regular articles in our monthly newsletter with ideas on how we as individuals can help make a difference for the earth. These projects have been a witness to our concern for God’s creation. The group meets monthly and welcomes others who are interested in creation care.
