It's that time of year again!

If my memory serves me right, it wasn’t that long ago that our church calendar celebrated the Sunday before Easter as simply “Palm Sunday.”  I remember those days of entering the church singing “All Glory Laud and Honor” and waving our palm branches.  For many of us, that meant we could go directly from Palms to Easter Eggs!  We didn’t have to mess with a horrific week of betrayal, torture, and execution.  What a relief, right?  Then several decades or two ago, that same Sunday became Palm/Passion.   Now with a slash.  Remember the change?  I’m glad for that “combination” Sunday.  Now Palm/Passion Sunday invites us to pay attention and gives us a brief glimpse into the most traumatic week of Jesus’ life.  But there’s much much more.  Three services heighten our experience and deepen our understanding:  Maunday Thursday, (7 pm) where Jesus washes feet and initiates the Eucharist; Good Friday, (7 pm) a recounting of that dark day of his greatest Act of Love;  Easter Vigil, (8 pm) a celebration of the Ancient Mighty Acts of God while looking forward to that Great Act yet to come at the break of dawn.  So this year, why not walk with the other pilgrims through these services?   You’ve been invited.
