SIGH……

Tell me, how does one “summarize” in a blog of 250 words or less the experiences of these past 17 years as pastor of Faith Lutheran?  Not possible.   There have just been too many meaningful and profoundly  touching  experiences, lessons learned,  and emotional connections--the substance of which would fill numerous books, to say the least.  So you know what I have begun to do?  During my daily quiet time, I am going through our Faith Lutheran phone directory, taking each name individually and holding it in my heart. As I do this,  I ask Spirit to bring to remembrance all the ways in which that person’s life (yours!) has intersected with mine.  Remembering the times of joy, consolation, walking together in the  valley of the shadow, dancing, and weeping which have touched us both so deeply.  Recalling times when together we not only worshipped but also strove for justice, mercy, and the bringing of peace.   May we have moments in these next weeks to personally thank each other for these gifts.  While there remains many questions and concerns about such important congregational transitions,  I am confident that with the help of the Comforting and Sustaining Spirit, we will continue learning to trust and lean together.  Much remains to be done.  Thank you so much for your part.  And this was only 226 words……
